Let's Finish the Job!

Can you feel the wind blowing? It's the wind of change!

And with all of the incredible things that happened for Democrats across the country last night, the wind is at our backs.

But we can't afford to rest. Senate District 17 now becomes the final battleground of 2008, and I need your help.

We're in a runoff election in 30 days against someone who is the favorite of the special interests that control the Texas Legislature, and I'm counting on you to help me with this one.

Today, we're starting online fundraising campaign to raise $50,000 in 30 days.

In 30 days, we can begin the job of lowering your utility bills and property taxes. In 30 days, we can begin the job of preparing our kids for the economic challenges of the future instead of focusing on yet another standardized test. In 30 days, we can begin moving forward to real reform. But not unless you're with me.

Joan Huffman has the Austin special interests on her side, but I've got something more powerful: the people in Senate District 17. I've got the endorsement of the Houston Chronicle, the fire fighters, the teachers, and so many other leaders and groups.

Let's not let this chance pass us by.
